The Coronavirus, Infectious Bronchitis virus (IBV) represents one of the most significant threats to the global poultry industry.

Current live IBV vaccines provide the first line of defense in protecting flocks from infection. These vaccines are produced by weakening disease-causing viruses by growing for prolonged periods in eggs. Occasionally, vaccine virus can evolve in the host post-vaccination and cause diseases and outbreaks again. The underlying mechanism is often not known.

Our mission is to understand the molecular basis of viral attenuation.

Our aim is to design more robust and safer vaccines by understanding viral diversity and host responses, thereby minimizing the potential for vaccine induced disease.
